Halalbooking guide to halal-friendly holidays in Cambridge

Set on the River Cam, Cambridge, England’s most beautiful historic city is less than an hour away from the busy London capital, but with a completely different charm. Stepping in, you will be immersed within the allure, remarkable architecture and scholarly charisma. Home to the prestigious Cambridge University, the city offers spectacular scenery, interesting museums, architectural triumphs, delicious food, vintage streets all coming together to offer that classic Cambridge ambience.

Cambridge Central Mosque

Cambridge's first eco-friendly mosque is the perfect example of the tranquillity that a weekend in Cambridge exudes. For the Muslim traveler, this mosque is important as it is a revolutionary building inspired by the landscapes of India and Spain, showing the appreciation of nature that Allah created for us. Admire the sights here, just like any other wonderful place in Cambridge, and find solace among the other 8,000 Muslims the mosque can accommodate!

Founded by Sheikh Abdul Hakim Murad or Timothy Winters, an English revert who is also Dean of Cambridge Muslim College, the mosque is as much an inspiration as the founder himself. Ranked 48th on the list of the world's most influential Muslims of 2020, Winters features one Key role in translating important Islamic texts into English. Winters' insight and brilliance motivates Muslims to show what we can achieve when we focus on it and encourages us to refresh our Islamic knowledge.

Cambridge is home to many great Muslim scholars and the Imams at the Mosque are also notable figures of Bosnian and Turkish origin who both lead prayers and teach Hifz! They also spend time as chaplains and counsellors for inmates in certain English prisons. The mosque is not only a prayer area but also a community centre with gardens, a cafeteria and classrooms. Nestled in the heart of Mill Road, a community teeming with multicultural restaurants and supermarkets, the area offers a taste of cuisine from around the world and highlights diverse culture!
