Itineraries & Excursions
Can I combine a cruise with Umrah?
Yes. The Red Sea voyages depart from and return to Jeddah, the gateway city for Umrah. Additionally, there's one special one-way voyage from Istanbul to Jeddah in September. All of them are ideal for combining with Umrah before or after you sail. Please note that flights aren't included and need to be arranged separately, as do your onward travel to Makkah and Umrah arrangements.
Do shore excursions include transport, meals or other services?
Each shore excursion has its own page setting out exactly what's included — whether that's transport, meals or other services — so you can see at a glance what's provided as part of that excursion's programme before you book.
Can guests book more than one shore excursion at the same destination?
Yes, you're welcome to book more than one shore excursion at the same destination, as long as the timings don't clash. It's worth checking each excursion's schedule in advance to make sure they fit comfortably around one another.
How can guests find out the start and end times of shore excursions to avoid scheduling conflicts?
Start and end times for each excursion are confirmed at the point of booking, whether you book through the call centre, the website or once on board. This makes it easy to organise your itinerary in advance and avoid any clashes between excursions.
Is there information or a booklet about shore excursions available for guests?
Yes — there's a dedicated shore excursions desk on board where you can pick up information on all the available excursions and get help with booking requests in person.
What are shore excursions, and how can guests book them?
Shore excursions are organised tours and activities you can join whenever your ship docks at a port of call, giving you the chance to explore each destination's attractions, landmarks, culture and natural scenery with an experienced local guide.
You can book shore excursions online, through the contact centre, or once you're on board.
In our Red Sea destinations (Aqaba and Sharm El Sheikh), the excursion programme typically includes:
- Water activities – beach clubs, a waterpark, and boat trips for diving and snorkelling
- Historical tours – from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra in Jordan to Sharm El Sheikh's historical museum
- Desert adventures – quad biking, Bedouin tea, camel encounters and evening entertainment under the stars
- Entertainment experiences – dance, acrobatics and live music
- Dining and culinary experiences – a journey through cuisines and flavours from around the world
- City tours – old towns and iconic landmarks that reveal each destination's cultural heritage
- Relaxation and shopping – strolling through local markets and souks for souvenirs
New tailor-made tours are added regularly, so it's worth checking back for the latest options before you sail.
Are wheelchairs provided for shore excursions?
Wheelchairs aren't provided for shore excursions, so guests who need one should bring their own. Accessibility also varies from tour to tour, as not every excursion is wheelchair-friendly, so we'd recommend checking accessibility with the shore excursions team before you book.
Is free parking available at every port?
Free parking isn't available at every port, so it's worth checking the parking arrangements for your specific port of embarkation in advance.
Can a guest join the cruise partway through, checking in at a later port on the same itinerary?
No, guests cannot join partway through the voyage and check in at a later port along the same itinerary; check-in is only available at the start of the cruise.
Are there designated facilities for guests with special needs?
Yes, AROYA provides designated facilities to support guests with special needs and to handle any related procedures.
What should a guest do if they lose their ticket?

Which destinations does AROYA Cruises sail to?
AROYA Cruises sails to a wide range of destinations across the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and the Arabian Gulf, including Jeddah, Yanbu, Sharm El Sheikh, Aqaba, Sabaya Island, Istanbul, Bodrum, Marmaris, Kas, Alexandria, Athens (Piraeus Port), Mykonos, Rhodes, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Khasab, Sir Bani Yas Island, Dammam and Salalah. Which destinations are available depends on the itinerary, departure port and time of year you're sailing.
Are there age or health requirements for certain shore excursions?
Yes, some shore excursions have specific age or health requirements, while others are designed to accommodate guests with special needs, depending on the nature of each excursion.
Transportation, Boarding & Luggage
How is luggage handled before and after the cruise?
Your luggage is looked after at every stage of the journey, from check-in through to your cabin door and back again at the end.
Each passenger is encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two suitcases plus two pieces of hand luggage, with an overall limit of eight pieces per cabin for all passengers sharing it — anything beyond this won't be accepted at check-in for the cruise, so it's worth checking your airline's own baggage allowance too, as this may differ.
Cabin storage space is limited, so standard suitcases are best stored under the bed. Label each piece of luggage clearly with your name, cabin number, embarkation date and a contact number; any unlabelled checked luggage will be labelled for you at the port terminal during embarkation and delivered to your cabin by the crew. On the last night of your cruise, suitcases are collected and can then be picked up again at the port terminal.
Keep medication, valuables, toiletries, important documents and anything else you might need close at hand in your separate hand luggage rather than in your checked bags. For everyone's safety, AROYA Cruises reserves the right to carry out baggage checks where necessary, and a full list of prohibited items on board is available separately.
Is there a medical clinic or hospital on board?
Yes — there's a well-equipped Medical Centre on board, staffed by the ship's doctor and a professional medical team, ready to handle emergencies at any time. In an emergency, call 911 from any public or in-cabin phone, or simply contact a crew member and they'll get help to you.
Outside of emergencies, the Medical Centre also offers general medical services during its regular opening hours, for a fee — prices are published on board. Since these services are chargeable, it's worth arranging travel and health insurance before your cruise, so you can claim reimbursement from your insurer afterwards.
Can guests check in online before the cruise, and what does the process involve?
Yes — online check-in is available through the AROYA Cruises app, and can be completed any time up to 24 hours before departure. The process covers entering your passenger details, uploading the required travel documents, and filling in any other necessary information, so you can head straight to boarding rather than queuing to sort paperwork at the port.
If you run into any trouble completing check-in through the app, don't worry — the team will help you finish the process when you arrive at the port.
If the port closes before I arrive for my cruise, will I receive a refund for the amount I've paid?
No refund is given in this situation — if the port closes before you arrive, this is treated as a no-show, and AROYA's standard Terms and Conditions apply. We'd always recommend allowing plenty of time for your journey to the port and checking AROYA's Terms and Conditions at the time of booking, so you know exactly what to expect.
Can I bring liquids on board, such as skincare products, energy drinks, juices and hair care products? If so, is there a maximum size limit?
Yes, you're welcome to bring liquids such as skincare products, energy drinks, juices and hair care items on board. There isn't a specific size limit stated, but we'd recommend packing smaller bottles where possible, since cabin drawer space is limited. It's also worth knowing that essential bathroom amenities — shampoo, conditioner and shower gel — are already provided in every room category, so you may not need to bring full-size versions of these.
Can I bring a baby carrier or stroller on board?
Yes, you're welcome to bring your own baby carrier and stroller for travelling with little ones on board.
Do you offer a complimentary luggage delivery service?
Yes — we provide complimentary baggage delivery, taking your luggage from the terminal straight to your cabin door, and back again from your cabin to the terminal at the end of your cruise.
What happens if I'm late for check-in?
If you arrive after check-in has closed, this is treated as a no-show, and the procedures set out in AROYA's Terms and Conditions will apply, which could include cancellation of your reservation. To avoid this, please make sure you check in on time — arriving promptly helps ensure a smooth, stress-free start to your cruise.
Is there a minimum age for travelling on an AROYA cruise?
Yes — the minimum age for travelling on an AROYA cruise is 6 months old, so families with young babies are welcome to sail with us.
What personal items would you recommend bringing on an AROYA cruise?
For a full rundown of what to pack and how to prepare, AROYA offers a dedicated cruise guide, packed with tips for making the most of your unique sea cruise experience.
How long does boarding take for AROYA Cruises?
Boarding times are set out in your transportation contract or itinerary, and you'll need to arrive at the port at the specified time stated there. We'd recommend checking these documents closely ahead of your trip so you know exactly when to arrive.
Special Needs & Safety
Are there any services or facilities designed specifically for guests with special needs?
Yes. AROYA offers a selection of accessible cabins, fitted with special features for guests with physical disabilities in line with the American Disabilities Act (ADA). Please note that a small number of onboard activities and offers may not be suitable for every disability, so do get in touch with the AROYA Call Centre in advance to check that a particular cruise, cabin or activity will suit your needs.
Is the ship easy for guests with special needs to get around, and can they access all the facilities?
Yes, most facilities throughout the ship are easily accessible with mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters. Wheelchair assistance from crew members is provided specifically at embarkation and disembarkation, when staff are on hand to help push wheelchairs, so guests can get on and off the ship comfortably.
Can guests with special needs use the swimming pools on board?
Yes. The onboard pool and jacuzzi are both fitted with ADA lifts, making it easier for guests with limited mobility to get in and out safely.
What happens if a guest has a medical emergency on board that needs specialist care from the medical team?
AROYA has a dedicated medical team on standby for any onboard emergencies. If you need urgent help, simply dial 911 from any public or in-room phone and the medical team will respond promptly. We'd also recommend travelling with appropriate medical insurance, so you can relax and enjoy your cruise with complete peace of mind.
Is there a dedicated butler or assistant for guests with special needs?
There isn't currently a dedicated butler or assistant specifically for guests with special needs. That said, we do encourage these guests to meet the designated officer at the start of the cruise, so our team can note any specific requirements. It's best to share these details during booking too, so we can prepare properly in advance and give you the best possible experience on board.
Are guests allowed to bring their own medication, and are there any restrictions?
Yes, guests are welcome to bring their own medication on board. We'd recommend packing enough to last the whole cruise and carrying it in your hand luggage rather than checked bags. The onboard Medical Clinic isn't a pharmacy — it holds medication for emergencies only — so it's important to bring your own regular supply. If you need something for seasickness, travel sickness tablets are available free of charge from Guest Services on request.
Are wheelchairs available, and can guests bring their own on board?
Yes — guests are welcome to bring their own personal wheelchair on board for use throughout the cruise.
Are electronic cigarettes (vapes) allowed on board?
Yes, electronic cigarettes (vapes) are permitted on board, but only within the designated smoking areas.
What security measures are in place on board the cruise?
Your safety and security on board are treated as a top priority. A specially trained security team monitors the ship at all times, supported by a camera surveillance system, and is authorised to intervene immediately in cases of suspicion or emergency. The ship is equipped with a digital access control system requiring your cabin card to pass through secure areas, along with X-ray screening for luggage and metal detectors. We also reserve the right to carry out handbag and luggage checks at any time during your voyage, so that passengers, crew and the vessel itself remain well protected throughout the cruise.
Can pregnant guests travel on the cruise?
Yes, pregnant guests are welcome to travel with us up to the 24th week of pregnancy.
Can sharp objects be brought on board?
No — sharp objects aren't permitted on board.
Can guests bring their own shaving equipment?
Yes, but only electric shavers are permitted. Blades are not allowed on board.
Are drones allowed on board?
No, drones are not permitted on board. Please refer to AROYA's prohibited items policy.
What is the maximum number of cigarette packs a guest can bring on board or when visiting countries on the itinerary?
In accordance with ZATCA, the permitted limit is 2 cigarette packs.
Can I bring an iron, or is one provided in the cabins?
• Heat-emitting devices are not allowed, and irons are not available in the cabins.
Guests may send clothing to the crew for washing or ironing, as laundry and dry-cleaning services are available on board. Further information and the price list are provided in the cabin.
What should I do in an emergency on board?
All cruise ships have regularly maintained and inspected lifeboats, life rafts and individual lifejackets for adults and children, plus a specified minimum additional capacity. The crew receives regular, extensive safety training and emergency drills, including ship evacuation procedures. In an emergency, immediately dial 911 from any phone on board and/or inform the nearest crew member.
What safety measures are in place on board?
Under SOLAS, the international Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, you must take part in a mandatory safety and emergency drill before departure. You will be told what to do in an emergency and how to wear your lifejacket. Your cabin TV also includes a video with all necessary safety instructions. Escape routes and your muster station are shown on the back of your cabin door. Babies and infants below 13 years receive a wristband stating their muster station, which they must wear throughout the cruise. This helps staff escort them to the relevant muster station if they are not with their parents during an emergency.
Policies & Documents
