GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered

Everything you might want to check before you book your halal-friendly sailing.

Contact our team
Is alcohol served on board?

No. AROYA sailings are completely alcohol-free across the whole ship.

Is all the food halal?

Yes — every dining venue on board serves halal-certified food.

What's the swimwear policy on board?

Guests are free to wear whatever swimwear they prefer, from standard bikinis to burkinis. The only requirement is that swimwear is made of non-transparent, water-friendly material. Swimwear is reserved for the pool decks; swimsuits, swim trunks and cover-ups aren't permitted in restaurants, indoor bars or lounges.

Are there women-only facilities on board?

The Zen Pool (Deck 18, adults-only) has women-only hours every day from 9am to 1pm, and there are dedicated ladies-only sessions at the gym and thermal spa. There is also a separate women's prayer room. Outside these hours, pools are mixed and family-friendly.

Is there a dress code on the ship?

Smart casual is recommended in most venues, though no strict code is enforced. Modest dress is expected in public areas, and during dinner hours in the main and specialty dining rooms it's best to avoid shorts, sportswear and sleeveless t-shirts. In short: dress as you would at a good halal-friendly resort, and you'll feel completely at home.

Is the entertainment family-friendly?

Yes. Evening entertainment, theatre shows, live music and stand-up comedy in Arabic and English, is designed for families and respects the values of the ship. There is no casino, and no venue on board serves alcohol.

Can I combine a cruise with Umrah?

Yes. The Red Sea voyages depart from and return to Jeddah, the gateway city for Umrah. Additionally, there's one special one-way voyage from Istanbul to Jeddah in September. All of them are ideal for combining with Umrah before or after you sail. Please note that flights aren't included and need to be arranged separately, as do your onward travel to Makkah and Umrah arrangements.

What's included in my fare?

All main meals and soft drinks at the three complimentary restaurants (Amwaj Buffet, Amwaj Terrace and Al Waha Dining) plus most entertainment and activities, and the kids' and teens' clubs are included. Specialty restaurants, some fitness classes and certain dinner shows carry an additional charge.

Do I have to pay when I enquire about a cruise?

No, payment is not taken when you make an enquiry. Our team confirms availability and your final price within 24 hours, then holds your cabin for you.
