I booked the standard room. Due to the obvious signs of wear and tear, it looked run-down. The bed linen wasn't clean at check-in, and I had to ask for it to be changed. Almost all the guests were from Eastern European countries. The way they were dressed, I found it unacceptable for people with children who wanted to have a halal holiday. There was also a Christmas tree, Christmas music, and tourists were apparently allowed to bring their own alcohol for Christmas Eve (there was a Christmas buffet on December 25th). I found that odd. I must admit, though, that particular buffet was the most extensive and delicious of the entire stay. Furthermore, supermarkets and other shops are NOT within 500 meters. The hotel does provide a free shuttle to a so-called hypermarket. However, this doesn't make it easy to just pop out for a meal or some shopping. You need a taxi or a rental car. There didn't seem to be any public transportation. Even if you speak Arabic, you still need to be able to speak English, as the waiters are mostly from other Asian countries like India.
Ich habe das Standardzimmer gebucht. Durch die deutlichen Abnutzungserscheinungen wirkt es herunter gekommen. Die Bettwäsche war auch nicht sauber bei Check-in und ich musste um einen Wechsel bitten. Es waren fast ausschließlich Leute aus den Ostblockstaaten da. So, wie die angezogen waren, fand ich das für Leute mit Kindern, die halal Urlaub machen wollen, unzumutbar. Außerdem gab es einen Weihnachtsbaum, Weihnachtsmusik und die Touristen durften scheinbar Alkohol für den Weihnachtsabend (es gab ein Weihnachtsbuffet am 25.12.) mitbringen. Das fand ich befremdlich. Ich muss zugeben, dieses spezielle Buffet war das umfangreichste und leckere während des Aufenthaltes. Weiterhin sind Supermärkte usw. NICHT IN 500 m Nähe. Aber das Hotel stellt einen kostenlosen Transfer zu einem sog. Hypermarket zur Verfügung. Dadurch kann man aber auch nicht eben mal essen oder einkaufen gehen. Man benötigt ein Taxi oder einen Mietwagen. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel schien es nicht zu geben. Wer arabisch spricht, muss dennoch auch Englisch können, da die Kellner meist aus anderen asiatischen Ländern wie Indien stammen.
